2007.05.08 Vol 2

Note: Vol 2 does not contain any info about G6 itself. Skip if you wish to.

[Greetings+self-introduction]

In terms of updating blogs in fixed intervals, as with the other staff members, I'm thinking of trying to write things relating to personal interests etc but...

until the official homepage for Grow 6 is out, I plan to do things like just promoting a bit more of the game.

Even so, let's start off with just one.
Actually, I belong to the #chou-geki-kara-tou

#超激辛党, literal: super-excited-hot-faction. geki-kara is actually a word term describing a taste for very spicy food, so here he's saying he is of that group. Anyway, he will elaborate more in later sentences.

In my opened refrigerator, there will always be red peppers and the ##bottle in the picture.
I'm sure there are people who know this, but this tabasco can be really spicy.
When I first used it, poured too much, and the spiciness shot through to the inner of the ears. For the brave who drinks tabasco, do search for this type and challenge it. it's really spicy hot!

##I don't think you need me to say this, but he's talking about that picture at the top of the entry.

...uh, huh?
I accidentally publicise the wrong thing. orz

Lastly, let's go with the Grow6 promotion (laughs). The official home page of Grow 6 is scheduled to be up in a short while. For fans as well as those users who are not, we intend to come up with information that will hopefully prove satisfactory to you all. Please look forward to it.

Well then, until next time.

2007.04.24 Vol .1

[Greetings and introduction of him being director]

Well then, Grow VI is scheduled to be out in 6/21, and information has started to emerge in magazines etc. Information has been posted on the atlus site recently as well, it's good to know that my hopes have been met and the game is being look forward to.

That being so, maybe I will use this place to do some publicity for Grow 6... (laughs)
Grow 6 is like the 2nd stage of the seamless battle in Grow 5. Not a lot of new elements are being added in in terms of the gameplay system, instead it's more of programming improvements and twitching. The areas of improvement ain't that great or drastic though, and the stuff that changed the most in terms of the game balance are [Adjustment in Magic usage: magic level can be selected, changes in rules of chanting and so on] and [ positions of units do not overlap]. Things like #distinction are also adjusted so that should help in battles strategy.

#I think he's probably referring to structure layout of the map and background and view etc

As for the smoothness of encounter battles, perhaps it's top-class in the rpg history (laughs)
To better understand that, viewing is preferred over explaining in words. We are planning to upload some videos depending on the official page after it is up on the atlus site. As well as to bring out more information that couldn't be expressed via ##publications.

##literal would be paper media, in other words stuff like magazines where everything is still.

I'm gonna say I agree with his top-class comment, I don't think there are much rpgs with encounter battles which are faster and smoother than those of Growlanser 6. Tales series would be very smooth(since it's totally real-time), but for those objecting, the word top-class does not consist of 1 fixed level of smoothness, neither is there only one game which can fall in that category. Furthermore, he said "perhaps". But I will say IMO, it is.

Explanation:

The translation section of this blog is where I post my translations(obviously) of stuff(usually video game related). Since I'm only doing it for the sake of hobby/interest/free time usage and unlike anything important(such as a faq or guide), I will not give heed to extreme fludity of translated sentences and so on, neither will I double check unless necessary =)

I welcome specific corrections for errors(e.g: I translated "it is not good" when it should be "it is good"), but NOT anything concerning overall structure/way of writing for the items. If anyone wants to nit-pick, please save it for some other places. And if you do not trust in my translations, feel free not to.

Oh, and one more thing: Sentences in different colors marked by various symbols are my explanations/comments.
I think maybe I'm gonna try and translate this:

http://www.atlusnet.jp/topic/list?creator_id=12&category=creator_works

for those interested in Growlanser VI, and perhaps even the entire series as a whole, "diary" posts by the director of the series, Shinjiro Takata(the one in charge from way back in the Langrisser series).

I won't give a guarantee, but I will when I'm in the mood to and when I have the time(of which, to be frank, I don't have much)

Disgaea 7/10

Disgaea is fun(better than FFtactics IMO). But the story(5/10) is...no I like Laharl a lot, and Etna is cute, the prinnies are funny, but the rest of the cast is no good. The first part of the story is pretty interesting, but as Flonne and the Gordon group appeared, we get some very brainless humor, which is very sad, because if it weren't so, the game wouldn't suffer such a low score in the character+plot area.

Gameplay is solid, but I don't like how you can't turn off the animated moves and have to watch each and every special move the characters+enemies execute from start to end. Music portrays atmosphere wonderfully.

However, I have a major issue with this series is that I have to replay countless times(with or without special strategies to increase the EXP gotten) of previous maps/increase enemy levels and back for the final fight to be able to beat it. I thought it's pretty much forced upon me( a certain amount is expected, but...not so much). But let's just say that's my issue, and it may not be existent for many other gamers.

2(had a review on gfaqs) is better than 1 almost in terms of everything apart from the main character.
Langrisser(1,2,4,5)

I have never played 3 sadly because I couldn't locate it by the time I came to know of the series. For 4 and 5, I played the final edition(had a review of it on gfaqs though).

Langrisser games are all connected in certain ways. It's a srpg whereby you move characters to "grids" on a battle map. Due to graphics and all of the games never making it outside Japan(1 has the translated warsong), I don't think every rpgamers or every gamers who like strategy games will like this series, as with most jrpgs though, since we will always have people who say brainless things such as "the artwork is bad, why does this person wear a ribbon that is bigger than her head".

Look past all those(including that this series is old), and you will have for yourself a steady srpg series full of colorful characters, surprises and lots of fun.

Fav: 4
Fav characters: Bozel(incidentally, he is my favorite game character of all times)
Hated: ...are there any? I think the caconsis king annoyed me for some days, but no one whom I hated, really.
Tales series

Phantasia(ps): 8/10
Characters =good, story =good, gameplay=average(stopping for every spell cast is a nightmare, especially efreet...)

Eternia(ps): 9/10
Fun. Replayed 3 times, but hardcore mode Sekundes is still the hardest boss I have ever met in my entire video gaming experience...until I see the fireball abuse video on youtube.

Destiny(ps) 5.5/10
...the score shows.

Destiny(ps2 remake) 8/10
Great and fun....until the last dungeon.

Legendia: 6/10
I wept after I finished the game...because it's finally over. I'd wish they reduce the length of the stupidity and annoyance of shirley's presence in the first half of the game so I can at least enjoy the character chapters without toiling through extreme self-control from smashing the TV, console and everything in my room to finally complete the game with nearly 70 hours.

Abyss: 5.5/10
It's a good thing this game is easy to finish off, or else I won't ever be able to complete it.

Symphonia: 6.5/10
Overall pretty decent, just that the battle system is not that satisfactory for me.

Fav game: Destiny remake for PS2
Fav characters: Cless, Chester, Keele, Moses, Sekundes, Kratos
Hated characters:  Shirley
